Today, March 20, 2024, ministry of peace State minister for Peace Building and National Consensus Honorable Dr. Kairedin Tezera had a discussion with the heads of Oxford policy management which is based in the United Kingdom.

Honorable Dr. Kairedin Tezera explained to the leaders of the Oxford policy management, who attended the meeting, about the activities being carried out by the Ministry of Peace, especially the activities it is doing to ensure lasting peace, to strengthen National consensus and to strengthen basic nation-building activities.

He added that, so as to promote sustainable peace and National consensus, the Ministry of Peace is working closely with governmental and non-governmental organizations which working on peace and today's discussion is a part of this.

Oxford Policy Management Director Rich Williams thanked them for the welcome and presentation, and said that, they will continue to support the ministry in various consulting activities.

For two consecutive days in Hawassa city, the leaders and experts of the peace and security structure of Sidama region were trained on federalism, conflict management and the concept of inter-governmental relations. The training is aimed at making the leadership involved in peace building by building implementation capacity.

Mr Yirgalem Mengistu , Chief Executive Officer of Conflict Management at the Ministry of Peace, stated that there is a gap in the government's efforts to avoid conflicts, to establish peace and security, and to reduce the damage caused when conflicts occur. He pointed out that conflict early warning system is a matter that should be given attention in order to be able to control conflicts before they occur.
